Method
How we work. Method and scope.
Altheon is a development and advisory firm in renewables: renewable energy communities (CER, comunità energetiche rinnovabili), power purchase agreements (PPAs) and self-consumption. On every project there is one point of contact, Michele Pravadelli; specialist partners come in by discipline, selected project by project.
This page explains how we start, who carries out and who coordinates each phase of a project, how we use data and sources, and what we do not do.

The steps
From the first message to the engagement.
Four steps, in the order they happen. The only time we state in advance is the first reply: the rest depends on the project and on the documents available.
First contact
Write through the contact form or to info@altheon.it and walk us through the context: a site, an energy need, a stalled project, an operating plant, an energy community to set up. Michele replies personally.
The call
If the topic fits, a 30-minute call is enough to understand the context and whether working together makes sense.
An assessment needs data and documents, which vary with the case: for instance the data and known constraints of a site, consumption data and supply contracts, the permits and grid connection quote of a project, the data room of an acquisition.
The proposal
If the conditions are there, we propose a working hypothesis for the deal structure or the scope of work: what to do and in which order. If we are not the right fit, we say so.
A proposal describes a path; it does not guarantee an outcome. Permits, grid connection and incentives depend on decisions by public authorities, grid operators and the GSE (Gestore dei Servizi Energetici), the Italian energy services operator.
The engagement
We carry out the agreed activities and bring in the partners each discipline needs: engineering, legal, construction, operation and maintenance.
On a project we check the points that decide its feasibility: constraints and permitting route, grid connection, yield and financial model, how the energy will be sold, applicable incentive rules. We read rules and incentives in the primary sources; we structure data rooms with AIP Engine.
In the first message
- Who you are and what you have: a site, an energy demand, a project, a plant, a community.
- Where you stand: an idea, a permitting process under way, a plant already in operation.
- What you need, and by when.
Project phases
Who carries out, who coordinates.
From origination to operation, the map shows for each phase whether Altheon carries out the work or coordinates it, and who executes it. Execution work, such as construction and maintenance, is carried out by specialist partners.
Who does what, phase by phase
Altheon carries out development and coordinates the partners who build and run the plant. It does not build with its own means, does not advance capital and does not take on the role of Referent (Soggetto Referente).

Text description
The map reads by columns, from the first phase to the last, and by rows, one lane per party: Altheon, the delivery partners, the project owner and the providers of capital.
In Altheon's lane a line runs across the four phases. It is solid, with filled nodes, in phases 1 and 2, where Altheon carries out the work; it is dashed, with hollow nodes, in phases 3 and 4, where Altheon coordinates work done by partners. At each phase a thread drops from the line to the node in the delivery partners' lane.
The table gives, phase by phase and lane by lane, the same information as the drawing.
Data and sources
Every figure has a source and a date.
An analysis is only as good as its assumptions. That is why we say where every number comes from and when we checked it.
Primary sources
For laws, incentives and market rules we cite whoever writes or applies them: Normattiva and the Gazzetta Ufficiale, EUR-Lex, MASE, GSE, ARERA, GME, Terna, the European Commission. A summary helps to find your way; decisions are made on the text.
Two dates for every citation
In citations we give the date of the document and the date we checked it. If a rule changes after the check, the date makes it visible.
The data and our reading
We keep what the source says apart from what we draw from it. When a figure is our own analysis, we say so.
Structured data rooms
In due diligence (DD) we use AIP Engine: it reads the data room (PDFs, spreadsheets, scans) and produces a Dossier Digitale Strutturato (DDS), a structured digital dossier. Every extracted data point stays linked to its source document, and the analyst confirms or corrects it before sign-off.
Principles
Four operating principles.
Real numbers
Defensible yield, capex and capture ratios. No inflated assumptions to make the business plan work.
One point of contact
On every project one person is on the hook. Partners are brought in for competence, not to fill an org chart.
Own tools
When the available tools fall short, we build our own. AIP Engine and CER-Ops are the first two.
Long horizons
We structure projects for the plant's operating life, not only for the incentive period.
Scope
What Altheon does and what it does not.
In renewables, different roles go by similar names. Ours, spelled out.
Scope statement
Altheon is not an ESCo (Energy Service Company), is not the Soggetto Referente (referent) of renewable energy communities, does not advance capital and does not build plants with its own means. It coordinates, structures and supports, with partners for the construction, operation and management of plants.
- Not an ESCo.
It holds no UNI CEI 11352 certification.
- Not the referent of a CER.
Under GSE rules, the referent of a CER may be the community itself, a producer member, a final-customer member, or a third-party producer with a plant in the configuration that is an ESCo certified under UNI CEI 11352.

- GSE (Italian energy services operator), «Comunità energetiche rinnovabili» (web page on renewable energy communities). Verified on 2 October 2026.
Altheon does not take this role. It supports those promoting a CER in its design: structure, governance and allocation rules. Management stays with the referent; for those who run a CER, Altheon develops the CER-Ops software.
- No capital advanced.
The investment stays with clients and investors. Altheon works on the structure of the project and on its bankability.
- No construction with its own means.
Construction is carried out by partner EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contractors, with site supervision entrusted to licensed professionals. Altheon supports the owner on design, contracts and progress.
Tools
Two tools built by Altheon.
Due diligence
AIP Engine
Reads data rooms (PDFs, spreadsheets, scans) and produces a machine-readable Dossier Digitale Strutturato. In early access for investors and asset managers.
Energy communities
CER-Ops
Software for the monthly cycle of a CER: meter data, shared energy, distribution between members, statements. It is a separate product, at cerops.altheon.it, and is in its launch phase, with invitation-only access.
