Cookie Policy

In short

The site sets a single technical cookie, which remembers your language. It stores a few choices in your browser's local storage and measures traffic without cookies. It uses no profiling or advertising cookies and embeds no third-party content.

Technical cookies

altheon_locale remembers the language you chose and holds only the language code, it or en. Our server sets it when you open a page in Italian or English, and so does the language switcher. It is a first-party cookie and lasts one year. It is a technical cookie and does not require consent.

The server sets it with two security attributes. With Secure the browser sends it only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). With SameSite=Lax the browser does not send it with requests that start on other websites, except when you follow a link from there to this site.

Choices stored in your browser

A few choices stay in your browser's local storage (localStorage), not in a cookie, and are not sent to our server:

• altheon_cookie_consent_v1: remembers that you closed the cookie notice, so it is not shown again;
• altheon_diagram_motion: remembers whether you paused the animations of the diagrams. We write it only if you use the pause control.

They stay until you delete them in your browser settings.

Traffic measurement

The site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies. The measurement script, served from our own domain, sends Vercel the page address and the time on each page view. Vercel distinguishes visitors with a code computed from the request, valid for one day and then reset.

The script also reads one entry from local storage, __va_attribution, which this site never writes: in our check of the script in use on 2 October 2026 the entry therefore stays empty. The script is provided by Vercel and may change.

How we classify these tools

• Technical: needed for the site to work or for a feature you asked for (language, closing the notice, pausing animations). They do not require consent.
• Measurement tools treated as technical: they measure the use of this site alone, in aggregate form. Under the Garante guidelines they do not require consent on four conditions: they do not allow an individual visitor to be singled out; they use an identifier that may refer to more than one device; they produce aggregate statistics for a single site only; the provider does not combine the data with other processing and does not pass it on to others.
• Profiling: none.

We classify Vercel Web Analytics as a measurement tool treated as technical, on the basis of Vercel's documentation: aggregate statistics only, a single site, a visitor code reset every day. This is why we do not ask for consent.

Vercel's public documentation does not state which elements of the request go into the daily code, nor whether measurement data is processed solely on our behalf. Our assessment relies on what Vercel documents.

Profiling and advertising

The site sets no profiling or advertising cookies. Should analytics or profiling cookies ever be introduced, they would be set only after explicit consent.

Third-party content

The site embeds no third-party content: the fonts are served from our own domain rather than an external CDN, and there are no embedded videos, maps or widgets. No third party can therefore set cookies while you browse.

Cookie notice

The notice at the bottom of the page informs and asks for no consent, because the site uses no tools that require it. When you close it, the choice stays in your browser's local storage (see “Choices stored in your browser”).

Managing cookies

You can manage or delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings. Without the language cookie, when you open an address that does not specify a language the site picks it from your browser settings.
